Dr. Uwe Christians created iC42 in 2001 and holds the position of Laboratory Director. Dr. Christians received his M.D. (with highest honors) and his Ph.D. in Experimental, Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology from the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover in Hannover, Germany, where he is a board-certified pharmacologist, toxicologist and clinical pharmacologist. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology and a Master in Research Quality Assurance (British Association of Research Quality Assurance).
Dr. Christians completed postdoctoral fellowships in Biopharmaceutical Sciences (Dr. L.Z. Benet) at the University of California, San Francisco, and in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplant Immunology (Dr. R.E. Morris) at the Stanford University Medical School. He joined the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado in Denver in 2001.
Dr. Christians holds two faculty appointments, one as Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, University of Colorado Denver, and the other as Professor (apl.) in the Institut für Pharmakologie, Medizinische Hochschule Hannover in Germany. His industry experience includes, Director of Clinical Pharmacology and Laboratory Services at BioNovo Inc. (2006-2008) and President/General Manager for Eurofins Medinet Denver (2007-2008).
Dr. Christians has received research awards for best thesis (1989), the Young Investigator Award of the International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology (1995), Heisenberg Fellowship of the German Research Foundation (1996-2000), and the Best Paper in Drug Metabolism and Disposition Award of the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (1997). He is the author of over 200 peer-reviewed original research, review articles and book chapters.
