Recently retired, Dr. Garcia was a clinical psychologist and consultant while in Texas and Colorado in medical, psychiatric and substance abuse treatment hospitals, outpatient clinics, residential treatment facilities, and schools. He is keeping his Alabama and Colorado licenses, and continue his education to remain professionally useful in focused ways. His most meaningful work was with earlier multidisciplinary care teams and emerging integrated health care teams. Dr. Garcia worked with the San Luis Valley Board of Cooperative Services in Alamosa, and the Colorado and U.S. Department of Education in supplemental education and health services for the children of migratory farm worker families. He also worked with the Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center and Clinical Translational Sciences Institute as a community research liaison in community engaged and community-based participatory research.
