CU Thrive: Center for Workplace Well-being Research

Helping Professionals Thrive. Shaping the Future of Medicine.

Why CU Thrive Matters

Physicians, researchers, and other health professionals dedicate their lives to caring for others. But workplace stressors—burnout, heavy workloads, and cultural challenges—can take a serious toll on their well-being and careers.

CU Thrive is working to change this reality. By studying what helps health professionals thrive at work and rigorously evaluating solutions that make a meaningful difference, we are helping build healthier, more supportive environments for the people who care for us all.

Our Mission

To reimagine the way health care work is designed and supported—so clinicians, scientists, and trainees can thrive and patients receive the very best care.

What We Do

Listen and Learn

Through surveys and data, we understand the challenges faculty face.

Innovate

We pilot new ideas—like team redesigns, leadership programs, and technology tools—that reduce stress and improve connection.

Measure Impact

We track outcomes to show how well-being affects patient safety, quality, cost, and innovation.

Share Solutions:

We publish, present, and create toolkits so other institutions can benefit from what we learn.

We don’t do this alone. CU Thrive partners with leaders across the country—including Mayo Clinic, Stanford, the American Medical Association, and more—to share knowledge, test solutions, and accelerate change.

Our Vision for the Future

Imagine a workplace where...

Doctors and scientists feel energized and supported

Teamwork is strong and culture is positive

Leaders put well-being at the center of decision-making

Parent and Child

Patients benefit from healthier, more engaged caregivers

That's the future CU Thrive is building—here at CU and nationwide.

CU Thrive is more than a research center. It’s a movement to ensure that the people who care for us have the support, energy, and joy they need to thrive.
