Dr. Kirk C. Hansen is interested in discovery and mechanistic studies aimed at creating the framework for personalize resuscitation strategies in trauma care. He and his group are leveraging mass spectrometry methods to profile alterations to the plasma proteome in trauma patients with a focus on various coagulopathies. In addition, novel methods for characterizing blood clots are being developed and applied to animal models and clinical samples to gain novel insights into hemostasis and thrombotic complications associated with shock and trauma.
