Matthew Mishkind, PhD
Program Director

Dr. Mishkind has 20 publications primarily focused on improving access to behavioral health care for military populations. He is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. Dr. Mishkind has also held positions focused on organizational development. Most recently, he served as team lead for training and human capital initiatives at the Bureau of Reclamation within the United States Department of Interior.

Becky Alberti-Powell, BA
Program Manager

Becky is a Denver native with nearly 10 years of experience in the public and nonprofit sectors. Her expertise is in operations, community engagement and program management, with additional experience in DEI, HR and committee and grants management. Becky holds a BA in Anthropology with a minor in Gender Studies and is currently pursuing an MBA at CU Denver.

Rachael Anderson, MBA, MSW, LCSW
CES Advisor and Division Administrator for Community, Population, and Public Mental Health

Rachael Anderson, MBA, MSW, LCSW is an Instructor and the Division Administrator of Division of Community, Population, and Public Mental Health, Department of Psychiatry, University of Colorado School of Medicine. In her administrative roles, she supports the social work training programs and co-chairs the retention sub committee for the DoP DEI committee.

Teresa Mescher, MPH
Research Associate

Teresa has a BS in biology and a minor in anthropology from the University of Iowa. After conducting psychiatric genetic and neuroscience research for over a decade, she received a Master of Public Health in Population Mental Health and Well-Being from the Colorado School of Public Health. Her career focuses on using a population-level approach to addressing the current mental health and substance use crises via education and behavior change. Teresa specializes in program design, implementation, and evaluation, as well as academic research.

Douglas K. Novins, MD
CES Advisor and Division Chair for Community, Population, and Public Mental Health

Dr. Novins holds a secondary academic appointment in the Colorado School of Public Health and serves on the faculty of the Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health. His research is currently supported by grants and cooperative agreements with the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the Administration for Children and Families. Finally, Dr. Novins is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, a prestigious international scientific journal focusing on child and adolescent mental health.

Alexandra Yannacone, MA
CES Advisor and Johnson Depression Center Director of Education and Community Programs

Alex Yannacone has an extensive background in implementation and trainings for prevention and intervention of mental health services and education. As the Director of Education and Community Programs at the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center, Alex provides programs and trainings addressing mental health concerns.
