Further Appreciation

Dionisia de la Cerda

I enjoyed reading Frank’s note of appreciation for Cleveland Piggott’s work and feel compelled to extend that appreciation out further to one of Cleveland’s key partners in the Justice League, Dionisia de la Cerda.Dionisia de la Cerda, MPH

Dionisia has been a steadfast equity warrior for years, and I can’t keep track of all of the different community engagement and health equity projects that she either leads or makes work through her continued effort. She is willing and able to put pressure on anyone on our campus or in the community to promote equity, commonly meeting with deans, department chairs, politicians, and anyone else that can push the work forward.

There is a growing group of people aligning with and contributing to the work of the Justice League, but I believe that Dionisia deserves special recognition as someone willing to doggedly and persistently put in the hard work in dealing with the racial and multiple other inequities in our community.

My thanks to Dionisia, Cleveland, and all of the other equity warriors in our Department and beyond for their efforts.
