The Fujita Lab investigates biological roles and molecular regulations of IL-37 in adaptive immunity, IL-1b, inflammasomes, and autoinflammation in human melanoma, genotoxic metabolites in melanocytes and skin cells, and intra-tumoral heterogeneity and plasticity in melanoma. We are among the first groups to show the inflammasome platform in melanoma cells. The IL-1b study led us to study another IL-1 family member, IL-37. Our lab was the first to demonstrate the tolerogenic nature of IL-37 in adaptive immune cells, such as dendritic cells and Treg cells.
