The CURIC Philips Gemini 64TF PET/CT Scanner (supported by NIH UL1RR025780 grant) provide a state-of-the-art capacity for PET, CT and PET/CT studies.
The PET detector rings and the clinical-grade CT scanner of the Philips Gemini 64TF imaging system are physically separated, allowing for a more patient-friendly and open imaging experience.
The CT allows rapid (<2 min) acquisition of high-resolution anatomical information, while the PET scan provides biochemical information in the tissues.
Applications of PET/CT include imaging of tumors, neurodegenerative disease, addiction, metabolic disorders, and drug development. The CT scans are broadly used for muscle, bone, and tissue adiposity studies.
