The strategic plan is designed to guide the department for the next 5-7 years and will evolve as needed to add maximum value. Along with outlining new initiatives for growth, the purpose is to document and recognize the ongoing efforts of everyone in the department.

Promote team science and multidisciplinary collaborations across divisions, the School of Medicine, the CU Anschutz campus, and beyond.

Expand the Department's clinical programs on campus, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Enhance patient access and the overall patient experience across DOS clinical sites.
Be a national leader in clinical quality, safety, and outcomes.
Strengthen collaboration, transparency, and strategic alignment between CU Medicine, the DOS, and our health partners.
Invest in and develop targeted signature programs that differentiate the DOS.
Raise the visibility, brand, and rankings of the department and its programs, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Grow and secure sustainable funding and revenue streams, including philanthropy.
Optimize the operational performance, processes, policies, reporting, and workforce across the DOS.
Expand education and training experiences for the Department's residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers.
Develop future leaders and increase leadership diversity to reflect the demographics of Colorado and the country.
Recruit, retain, and develop outstanding faculty, staff, and trainees.
Cultivate a supportive work environment that is equitable and inclusive, promotes wellness, and creates a culture where all can thrive.
Create an environment in which everyone is well-versed and educated in diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA).
