A former patient shared how accessing support during and after pregnancy through our services helped her feel heard, connected, and better prepared for parenting.
“I reached out when I was pregnant and it was super helpful. I joined a perinatal support group... just having people to talk to – I felt super supported and heard.”
After having a traumatic birth, she experienced a difficult moment that led her to rejoin group therapy sessions.
“I had pretty severe flashbacks... but I joined the sessions of the perinatal support group and I feel like that was the first time I felt supported for the birth. It was really life-changing.”
She continued engaging with care and community through the Healthy Expectations Intensive Outpatient Program and individual support.
“The way Karen spoke to me – I felt heard, supported, like there was hope. Celeste checked in with me constantly. Even on weekends. Without this group, I don’t think I would’ve gotten to the place I’m in now.”
At first, she was unsure about attending an in-person group, but she soon found it to be meaningful.
“At first I was against going... but hearing other women, having honest conversations... that group helped me so much. It gave me community when I really, really needed it”
The environment itself stood out as part of what made the program effective.
“The office is so beautiful. It’s very calming, very healing. The view is beautiful. The playroom – just knowing it was there – made me feel supported.”
To sum up her experience at WBHW, she said
“This place gave me hope when I felt hopeless. I never felt alone, even when I wanted to give up on myself. I feel very lucky.”
