Our playroom is conveniently located next to our group therapy room, offering a safe and nurturing space for infants during the PIPER IOP. A professional childhood educator will be there to ensure your little one is cared for and engaged in safe, developmentally appropriate play, allowing you to focus on your therapy sessions with peace of mind.

What will be included?


Babies will have access to developmentally appropriate toys and will also have a space where they can sleep, be fed and changed during the IOP time. 

What ages of kids do you accept?


We can accept babies up to 12 months of age for our playroom

Want to Volunteer?

The Playroom Volunteer at the University of Colorado Anschutz Perinatal Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program will join the multidisciplinary team to support the health and well-being of patients with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Volunteers will be working in the adjacent playroom while their mothers are attending the program next door. They may also conduct or oversee the serving of meals and snacks, maintaining safety and sanitation standards, and assisting children with a variety of tasks as requested by the child. This includes ensuring a clean, safe, and nurturing environment that aligns with standards established by the department and/or regulatory entities. The objective of the volunteers is to assist the Playroom Coordinator in caring for the infants.

Duties:

  • Provide direct care of infants (ages 0 – 1 year) of individuals participating in WBHW PIPER IOP program including:
    • Verbal engagement
    • Developmentally appropriate play activities
    • Infant feeding
    • Providing an appropriate environment for sleep or relaxation.  
  • Provide multiculturally sensitive care to all enrolled caregivers and infants.  
  • Develop and maintain a positive and confidential relationship with each caregiver

Details:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • The PIPER IOP runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:45 am – 12:00 pm.
  • Must be able to transport to the Anschutz Health Sciences Building at 1890 N Revere Ct, Aurora, CO 80045.

Email [email protected] for availability. Each volunteer will need to complete 4 training courses, a background check, and sign a risk waiver before their first day.
