How long has Native American Heritage Month existed? Since 1990 due to  G.W. Bush, and has been celebrated by UCHealth for the past 2 years. 

We all know what it's like to be left out or feel like we don't belong. Some people more so than others, and it shouldn't be like that. I want to be a part of a movement that helps bridge that disconnection in humanity. That is one of the reasons why I took the initiative to send out an email to my entire clinic in Boulder about the happenings that are going on with DEI in UCHealth and the community that we serve! I’ve received great feedback so I continue sending updates and event notifications to my coworkers to keep us all involved. Then I found an event that spoke to my heart, Native American Heritage Month event! I wanted to be involved because my husband and children are Indigenous, and knew that I could be a great resource to shed some light on our community! I absolutely LOVE taking care of people, while sharing my knowledge and I want to use my passion, to pay it forward to those that have helped me in the past and give back to DEIA! It's vital to our survival as humans to understand and love one another and DEIA is helping to do that!

About this Event:

This event of for everyone who is curious to know more and to further their knowledge on this community as it is not empathized and sometimes left out of statistics. This event is to help highlight this culture and our healthcare disparities we face, while honoring traditions, beliefs, and healing methods.

UCH Food and Nutrition Services will offer a traditional Native American menu at the Garden View and Courtyard Cafés as part of UCHealth’s recognition of this special event.
