We focus on providing exceptional patient care through a combination of state-of-the-art surgical and minimally-invasive endovascular techniques.

The Advanced Aortic Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a multidisciplinary team specializing in the treatment of a wide variety of aortic pathology. Treated disorders include aortic root, thoracic, and abdominal aneurysms, acute and chronic dissections, aortic occlusive disease, and complications of prior therapy such as endoleaks from previous endograft placement. Through a collaborative effort with Cardiothoracic SurgeryVascular Surgery and EndoVascular Therapy, and Interventional Radiology, we focus on providing exceptional patient care through a combination of state-of-the-art surgical and minimally-invasive endovascular techniques. With a variety of available treatment modalities, care is optimized for individual patients to maximize patient satisfaction and procedural outcomes.

At the University of Colorado we offer leading edge aortic repair by a multidisciplinary team of Vascular and Endovascular specialists.

  • The primary aortic procedures are Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, or EVAR, and Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, or TEVAR. These procedures along with the occasional open repair allow us to effectively treat a myriad of disorders.
  • 80-90% of the EVAR and TEVAR procedures performed at University of Colorado use a percutaneous approach rather than a groin cut down. This patient preferred approach and has decreased length of stay and faster recovery times.
  • Within the Rocky Mountain region, Endovascular aortic repair using fenestrated grafts is only available at the University of Colorado. These devices allow endovascular repair of aneurysms which involve multiple other visceral vessels.

Aneurysms

  • Abdominal Aorta
  • Thoracic Aorta
  • Aortic Arch
  • Iliac Arteries
  • Visceral Arteries
