Dr. Arek Wiktor joins facultyDepartment of Surgery | University of Colorado School of Medicine Aug 20, 2014
Dr. Wiktor attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery Residency and a Burn Surgery Fellowship at the University of Colorado, along with additional training in the burn units at Shriners Hospital for Children and Brooke Army Medical Center. He then went on to complete a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Wiktor has published 10 abstracts and manuscripts, delivered 10 research presentations at national meetings, and 9 Grand Rounds. He has won awards from the Golden Humanism Honor Society, the American College of Surgeons, the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, the Denver Academy of Surgery, and the Society for Free Radical Biology and Medicine.
Dr. Wiktor has been appointed the Associate Director of the Burn Surgery Service. Additionally, he will be attending on the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and on the Trauma Acute Care Surgery Service. He is developing a critical care ultrasound curriculum for medical students, residents, and fellows. His research interests include acute burn resuscitation, inhalation injury, and point of care ultrasound use in the intensive care unit.
