Congratulations to George Zlotchenko, MD, who was recently named Clinician of the Year for Highlands Ranch Hospital.  Dr. Zlotchenko, who also serves as Radiology Medical Director at HRH, was honored with the award at a recent dinner.

Jody Tanabe, MD awarded $6.8 million grant by National Institute on Drug Abuse

Jody Tanabe, MD, along with Joe Sakai, MD, Psychiatry, have been awarded funding of up to $6.8 million by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to conduct a pilot study investigating deep brain stimulation for treatment of refractory methamphetamine use disorder—a first-of-its-kind award from NIDA for this disorder.


CU Residents Travel to Nepal, Give back through RAD AID

Our residents Eddy Bent-Robinson, MD, Evan Morris, MD, and Philip Asamoah, MD, recently traveled to Nepal and implemented PACS at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in coordination with informatics volunteers and a donation through RAD-AID International. They also completed assessments and the first stages of planning for several capacity-building programs including developing a breast cancer screening program, implementing a mobile tele-ultrasound program, and expanding the neurointerventional service. They also gave several lectures over the course of the month through the residency program and as part of a breast imaging symposium that included several other regional teaching programs as well as TUTH.

PharmaLogic recently dedicated its new PET radiopharmaceutical lab in Bioscience 3 in honor of our Chair Gerald Dodd, III, MD, renaming it The Dodd Center for Biomarker Innovation. A permanent plaque is affixed outside of CURIC.


CU Nuclear Medicine named a Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence

Congratulations to the entire Nuclear Medicine team who recently found out they were named a Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence by the National Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. This prestigious honor means our department is 1 of 17 around the country to receive this designation.
