Consultations

Virtual Post-Acute Research Consultations

 

Our Virtual Consultation sessions are 1-hour Zoom-based virtual workshops for investigators developing research proposals related to pragmatic nursing home research. A typical Virtual Consultation session follows the format laid out below:

 

Virtual Consultation Agenda

  • Introduction (5 minutes by consultation facilitator)
  • Brief presentation of the research project (10 minutes)
  • Consultation input from 2-3 national researcher (30 minutes, 10 minutes each)
  • Facilitated discussion of key themes and next steps (10 min, all participants)
  • Wrap up (5 minutes by consultation facilitator)

 

Information for those interested in presenting a research proposal for feedback:

If you are interested in presenting a research proposal for feedback, please contact us  so that we can ensure your project is a good fit for the consultation series.

If your research proposal is accepted, you will need to prepare the following materials:

 

  1. Specific aims page
  2. Updated project application or research strategy from a submitted or pending proposal
  3. Completed Pilot Study Pragmatic Design Worksheet using the RAPT and PRECIS-2 framework from the NIH Impact Collaboratory on pragmatic clinical trials. Please use this as a tool to describe your study and identify your study design gaps/opportunities.   4. Compose 2-3 questions for feedback to your pragmatic clinical trial in the nursing home setting

For the presentation, you will be asked to prepare up to 8 slides, focusing on Specific aims, Significance, and 1-2 slides for each of your questions to the consultants.

 

We will ensure that national experts review your project materials, are prepared to provide input on your selected questions, and provide you written feedback on your study. You will also receive the Zoom recording of the consultation for your use.

 

 

Information for those interested in participating as discussants:

If you are interested in providing external input based on your expertise on a pragmatic nursing home research proposal, please contact us so that we can match you appropriately.

 

If selected as a reviewer, we will send you the following materials for your review, along with a brief template to provide written feedback to the presenter:

  1. A specific aims page,
  2. An updated project application or research strategy from a submitted or pending proposal,
  3. A Pilot Study Pragmatic Design Worksheet, designed by the NIH Impact Collaboratory on pragmatic clinical trials. This tool allows the presented to describe the study and identify study design gaps/opportunities.
