The Collected Works of A. R. Martin

Collected Works of A. R. Martin -- book coverIn addition to the published works (and one unpublished gem) from Bob's professional life, this volume also contains an autobiographical sketch. From his childhood education in a one room schoolhouse on the plains of Manitoba (which had the advantage that "...you could learn some of next year's work ahead of time."), to graduate work with Bernhard Katz in London (where shortly before Bob's thesis defense, one of his examiners, Alan Hodgkin, had to be replaced - by Andrew Huxley as it turned out), the sketch traces his adventures in the then-new field of biophysics. Also documented are his years on the faculty at medical schools in Montreal, Salt Lake City, New Haven, and Denver.
