Welcome to the Colorado Health Promotion Symposium!

The University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program, along with the Colorado School of Public Health and the American Physical Therapy Association Health Promotion and Wellness Council, is proud to welcome you to the Colorado Health Promotion Symposium. ​

This virtual symposium will explore the intersection of health promotion and physical therapist practice by connecting ideas, places, and people through technology and innovation to advance health equity. Interactive sessions will include keynote presentations, panelist discussions, platform presentations, and breakout sessions.

The call for abstracts is now open for the 2022 Health Promotion Symposium. We invite you to submit your work for consideration by the Symposium Steering Committee.

While developing your submission, we welcome the following categories under our broader theme of connecting:

  • Connecting Places
  • Connecting People
  • Connecting through Technology and Innovation

 

We will prioritize those abstracts focusing on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Key Dates

Call for Abstracts: April 1-May 15, 2022 11:59 p.m. PDT

Abstractive Review and Selection: May 16-June 15, 2022

Notifications sent via Email: June 16, 2022

Overview

  • Platform sessions will be 45 or 90 minutes long. Presentations are 15-minutes (10-minute presentation + 5-minute discussion). 
  • Detailed instructions regarding presentations and scheduling will be provided to the submitting author along with the acceptance notification in June. 
  • The complete schedule of all abstract presentations will be finalized in June.

We welcome submissions related to 3 of the 4 categories falling under our broader theme of connection. In addition to prioritizing those abstracts focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion, we also encourage creativity and innovation as we seek to explore the intersection of public health and physical therapy.

  • Category Selection: Please review the categories and select the category that best reflects your work. This will help ensure your abstract is assigned to reviewers with appropriate expertise.

Submitting Your Abstract

Complete the form including:

  • Name, email address, academic title/rank, and institutional affiliations of the presenting author
  • Co-authors and affiliations
  • Abstract title
  • Abstract body with structured headings

    • When can I submit my abstract?
      • The call for abstracts opens on April 1, 2022 and closes May 15, 2022 at 11:59 PDT.
    • Do I have to submit my abstract through the Abstract Submission Page?
      • Yes - all abstracts must be submitted online to ensure they enter the review and selection process.
    • What are the submission categories?
      • Please review the Categories and select the category that best aligns with your work. This will ensure your abstract is assigned to reviewers with appropriate expertise.
    • What is the word or character count for submitted abstracts?
      • The total character count is 2,600 and includes spaces. Titles, authors, and affiliations are not included in this total.
    • Can individuals submit more than one abstract?
      • While there is no limit of abstracts submitted by each author, we will prioritize inviting multiple, diverse authors.
    • Is there a fee associated with submitting an abstract?
      • No!
    • When will I be notified regarding acceptance of my abstract?
      • We hope to notify authors on the June 16, 2022.
    • If my abstract is accepted, will I need to register for the symposium?
      • Yes - we will be communicating important information to registered attendees.
