While the in-person interview format has historically been regarded as an object of great veneration by the graduate medical education community, now, in the post-COVID-19 era, institutions have adopted new recruitment strategies. With the enhancement of technology and use of video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, fellowship programs are able to introduce candidates to its program, its teaching sites and its community more efficiently.

Application Process
In order to be eligible to enter a pediatric fellowship program at the University of Colorado, you must meet the minimum selection criteria described in the Graduate Medical Education Eligibility and Selection Policy.
The Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program.
All residents in GMEC approved programs are required to successfully complete the USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Step 1 examinations, and USMLE Step 2 (CK) or COMLEX Level 2 (CE and PE) examinations, as evidenced by obtaining a passing grade for that examination, prior to starting a residency. Original transcripts must be provided 6 weeks prior to the incoming Resident's start date.
All residents in GMEC approved programs are required to successfully complete the USMLE Step 3 examination or COMLEX Level 3 examination, as evidenced by obtaining a passing grade for that examination, prior to the mid-point of the second post-graduate year (PGY2).
All fellows entering GMEC approved programs must have successfully completed the USMLE Step 3 examination or COMLEX Level 3 examination or the Canadian LMCC examination, as evidenced by obtaining a passing grade for that examination prior to starting a fellowship.
International Medical Graduates, must meet the following criteria:
- Have a valid ECFMG Certificate.
- Residents in our program must be a U. S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or possess the appropriate documentation to allow residents to legally train at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine.
- Minimum selection criteria.
- The CU Anschutz School of Medicine recognizes that residents enrolled in its programs are trainees, not employees. As such, all applicants also must be able to meet conditions of the institutional requirements.
- Any other criteria as determined by the program.

The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes provides state-of-the-art
diabetes care to >7,500 active patients: 4,600 children and 2,900 adults
with diabetes from the Rocky Mountain Region as well as receiving national and
international referrals. We provide inpatient care to patients with any type of
diabetes who are seen at the Children’s Hospital Colorado.
We also serve remote areas of the Rocky Mountain Region through
our telemedicine program. The section of Pediatric Endocrinology also features
clinical epidemiology studies including multicenter studies and trials with
partners around the world. The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes serves more
than 90% of children living in Colorado with type 1 diabetes.
Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) is located in Aurora, CO, and
is ranked No. 7 on the Best Children's Hospital Honor Roll for U.S. News and
World Report. CHCO is a freestanding pediatric general medical and surgical
facility that is nationally ranked in 10 pediatric specialties, including a No.
4 ranking for Pediatric Endocrinology among all programs nationally. CHCO is a
teaching hospital located on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
in Aurora, CO, a suburb of Denver.
The hospital's work is centered on its main campus, which includes
a Level 1 trauma center. Patients also have access to emergency and urgent care
services at multiple locations throughout the Denver metropolitan area.
Our Virtual Interview Day
Our fellowship program will be conducting virtual interviews for this upcoming interview season. We look forward to sharing our program information with you and getting to know more about you. Our virtual interview dates for the 2025-2026 academic year are provided below.

Our goal is to help reduce your interview day jitters by letting you know what to expect for your fellowship virtual interview. Below is the layout of the interview day to help you be prepared.
- Each Virtual Interview Day will occur via zoom, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm MST.
- When applicants log into the Virtual Interview Day zoom link on the day of their interviews, applicants will be directed into a main 'lobby' room. Breakout rooms will be used to host the individual Fellowship Overview session and individual interviews.
- A set number of candidates will be interviewing with four faculty members on each interview day.
- Interviews will last approximately 30 minutes in length.
- Applicants will be interviewed individually by one faculty interviewer during each 30-minute interview.
- The fellowship program coordinator will provide a 5-minute warning prior to completion of each of the faculty interviews to allow for enough time for applicants to conclude their conversations and move to the 'lobby' to take a brief break and prepare for their next interview.
- There will be a 10-minute break after each interview.
- During each 10-minute break, applicants will be re-directed to the ‘lobby’ in between their 1:1 faculty interview.
- The Fellowship Program Coordinator will remain in the main lobby during the entirety of the Virtual Interview Day to answer any questions or troubleshoot issues with Zoom.
Virtual Interview Schedule
All times listed below are in Denver/Mountain Standard Time (MST):
8:00 am – Fellowship Overview Presentation by Program Director/ Assistant Program Director
8:55 am – Break
9:00 am-12:10 pm – Interviews with faculty from the Children’s Hospital Colorado and the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes. Interviews are 30 minutes with multiple breaks in between interviews
12:10-12:15 pm – Break
12:15-12:25 pm – Wrap-up and last-minute questions with Program Director/Assistant Program Director
12:25-1:00 pm – Virtual Lunch with Peds Endo Fellows
1:00 pm – All applicants may log out of the Virtual Interview Day zoom link/meeting.
Virtual Fellows Happy Hour
Applicants will be invited to join our current fellows for an informal session the Thursday evening prior to your interview day. This is a great way for applicants to ask questions and get to know our amazing group of fellows, our fellowship program, our beautiful state, etc. in a casual and relaxed setting.

Schedule questions: If you have questions about your Virtual Interview Day schedule, please email our program coordinator.
Need additional personal time: If you would like additional personal time during your Virtual Interview Day, such as to pump, please let our program coordinator know immediately and she will arrange it in the schedule.
Zoom: Please make sure to test your zoom device's audio and camera (computer/laptop preferred) prior to your Virtual Interview Day. We also recommend to arrange a quiet space with good lighting and limited distractions during your Virtual Interview Day. During the Virtual Interview Day, our program coordinator will be in the main lobby room for the entirety of the interviews, to assist with any zoom issues you may encounter.
