Department of Pediatrics Ranks No. 5 for 'Best Pediatrics Programs'Department of Pediatrics Mar 10, 2015
The University of Colorado's Department of Pediatrics was ranked fifth in the nation for "Best Pediatrics Programs" by U.S. News & World Report.
The Department of Pediatrics consistently ranks in the top 10 in the rankings, and moved up from its No. 6 ranking from a year ago. The Department has been ranked fifth in four of the last five years.
"We are pleased to be ranked the fifth best Department of Pediatrics in the country. This reflects the outstanding work of our faculty and staff," said Stephen Daniels, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chairman, Department of Pediatrics, CU School of Medicine, and pediatrician-in-chief, Children's Hospital Colorado. "We will continue to strive to provide the absolute best clinical care, research, education and advocacy to improve the health of children in Colorado and across the country."
The University of Colorado School of Medicine has been ranked in the top 10 for primary care by U.S. News. The publication released its annual survey today. Each year it ranks medical schools in two broad categories – primary care and research. In this year’s rankings, the University of Colorado School of Medicine ranked No. 8 for primary care and No. 35 as a research institution.
The school’s ranking in the magazine’s research category changed several years ago when its Department of Preventive Medicine was merged into the Colorado School of Public Health. As a result, some grants and functions that are used to establish the U.S. News rankings were reassigned to the school of public health and are no longer considered in ranking the School of Medicine in the research category.
“I am proud of all our programs here whether they get ranked by U.S. News or not,” said Richard Krugman, MD, dean of the CU medical school and vice chancellor of health affairs for the University of Colorado Denver.Rankings for other schools and colleges at Anschutz Medical Campus included:
