Quality and Safety Academy participants should be students, residents and fellows in any program affiliated with University of Colorado or faculty without prior training or who may be interested in refreshing their knowledge and skills in order to lead or coach trainees in quality/safety work. Those interested in participating can apply to all sessions, or to an individual part of QSA, such as the session focused on patient safety/M&M conferences, the session(s) focused QI projects, etc.
Quality and Safety Academy emphasizes a set of foundational topics and skills that integrate with and build upon one another. Experiential learning methods, including small group work and simulations during sessions, draw upon theory embedded across the program. As a result, candidates must be able to commit to 100% attendance—which includes on-site presence and engagement for all days of the program. Participants will need to be freed in advance from clinical and administrative responsibilities during all Quality and Safety Academy sessions.
All clinical students, residents, fellows and faculty who meet the requirements above and have an appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine are eligible for Quality and Safety Academy course.
