IHQSE’s Introductory Training Program in Quality Improvement (ITP) is a one-day course and emphasizes fundamental principles and skills necessary to design and participate in quality improvement initiatives in clinical settings. Because most healthcare professionals have not received formal training in quality improvement theory and methods, and yet are routinely asked to engage in activities that improve quality and safety of care delivery, ITP is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to fundamentals of quality improvement necessary to design and participate in successful quality improvement projects.
This course teaches teams and individuals a wide variety of improvement, leadership and change management techniques intended to begin to develop improvement leaders throughout the enterprise. Topics include an introduction to the different improvement methodologies and tools; hands-on learning activities; an understanding of change, its impact on an organization and methods to manage it; and an introduction to data science.
The format consists of one 8 hour session of improvement theory and hands-on application exercises.
