Committed to Education

Committed to education and the advancement of orthopedic knowledge, The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Colorado stands as a cornerstone of excellence. Its dedicated academic and clinical faculty, each specializing in various orthopedic sub-specialties, ensure a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to patient care, research, and education.

The department's faculty comprises experts in Adult Reconstruction, Hand and Upper Extremity, Foot and Ankle, Pediatrics, Spine, Sports Medicine, Trauma and Fracture, and Orthopedic Oncology, making it a hub of diverse expertise. This rich variety of specialties enriches the learning experience and provides an all-encompassing environment for residents and fellows to thrive.

The Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program is not only an integral part of this institution but also a gold standard in the field. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), it sets the bar high for training future orthopedic surgeons. Furthermore, the fellowship programs in Hand and Upper Extremity, Pediatrics, and Sports Medicine, also ACGME-accredited, foster excellence in these sub-specialties.

For those seeking advanced training and specialization, the department offers fellowships in Adult Reconstruction, Foot and Ankle, Spine, Shoulder and Elbow, and Trauma. These programs open doors to in-depth expertise and a profound understanding of specific orthopedic domains.

Beyond clinical training, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Colorado emphasizes the importance of academic and research endeavors. Residents are encouraged to engage in scholarly activities, ensuring that they not only become proficient surgeons but also contribute to the advancement of orthopedic science. This holistic approach prepares residents for a future in general practice, advanced fellowship training, or a career in academic education and research, where they can give back to the field by shaping its future.
