CU OB-GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program

Jordan Needens, MD

Dr. Jordan Needens is a fellow for the University of Colorado Division of OB-GYN Hospitalist Fellowship. She was born in Fort Collins, CO and is excited to be coming back home for fellowship! She majored in Applied Biological Sciences and minored in Chemistry at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, where she also had the chance to compete as an NCAA basketball player. She went on to complete medical school training at University of South Dakota and is finishing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Marshall University in Huntington, WV.

She has many interests in the field of obstetrics and gynecology and is excited to have another year of exposure in academic medicine. She loves being in the operating room, and the wonderful opportunity to care for an amazing patient population. She has served many roles in graduate medical education during residency including Chair of the House Staff Council where she helped review incident reports regarding residents to help make quality improvement changes, and helped plan the annual PSQI (Patient Safety Quality Improvement) Summit.

Outside of the hospital Dr. Needens enjoys spending time with her miniature goldendoodle Harley, playing basketball, audiobooks, and outdoor activities. Some of her favorites include hiking, skiing, and white-water rafting! She is excited for this new adventure in her career and to be home and close to family.

Cosette Kathawa, MD

Dr. Cosette Kathawa is an OB Hospitalist fellow at the University of Colorado. She grew up in Michigan and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan with majors in Neuroscience and Women's Studies and a minor in Spanish. In college, she developed an interest in reproductive healthcare and justice, and spent a year after college working at the University of Michigan as a research assistant and as coordinator for the volunteer doula program. She went on to receive her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. She completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado. During residency, she acted as the Chief Resident for Quality Improvement, and led several quality improvement and patient safety projects. Dr. Kathawa's passion is for caring for patients during some of the most challenging and rewarding moments of their lives, and she looks forward to continuing this work as an OB Hospitalist fellow.
