Jan 28, 2025
2nd year MHA student, Shannon Sweeney, was invited to present an oral poster presentation at the 2025 CSI America Conference in Orlando, Florida, this past week. CSI America's focus is on catheter interventions in congenital, structural, and valvular heart diseases and heart failure. Shannon presented her capstone work, which she is completing under the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Jenny Zablah, Associate Professor of Pediatric Cardiology at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and clinician at Children's Hospital Colorado.
According to Shannon, "Attending the CSI America Interventional Cardiology Conference alongside Dr. Zablah was an incredible experience. I had the privilege of presenting my research on pulmonary hemorrhage to an audience of renowned interventional cardiologists, gaining valuable feedback and insights. The conference also provided a unique opportunity to learn about the latest advancements and innovations in the field. Additionally, I participated in the hands-on animal training lab, where I received practical training in ASD/PFO implantation, pulmonary valve implantation, and several other interventional procedures. I am extremely thankful for Dr. Zablah and the MHA Program for this opportunity!"
Shannon received an MHA travel award, which fully supported the cost of her travel to the conference. Congratulations Shannon and Dr. Zablah!
