With 16 divisions and more than 1,000 faculty members, the Department of Medicine is the largest academic department with the CU School of Medicine. The Department of Medicine’s promotion and tenure process occurs on an annual cycle.
All full-time CU School of Medicine faculty members who are employed by the University of Colorado are required to complete an annual review within an online review system called PRiSM (Performance Reviews in the School of Medicine). Denver Health and Veterans Administration-based faculty members must also participate in annual performance reviews, using a different system which is based at their home institution.

Rising Stars – Recognizes outstanding early-career faculty who exemplify the department’s core values of excellence in patient care, research, education and community service.
Outstanding Early Scholars – Provides support to early career of DOM research-intensive junior faculty. Funding provides the foundation for enhanced development of novel high impact papers and new research accomplishments.
