Geoffrey Connors Appointed Vice Chair of EducationDepartment of Medicine Mar 22, 2021
Geoffrey R. Connors, MD, FACP has been appointed the Department of Medicine vice chair of education.
Connors is an associate professor of medicine in the Department of Medicine and a lifelong educator. Connors is currently serving as the director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and will continue to serve in that role while taking on additional responsibilities as vice chair of education.
Following his residency at the University of Colorado and fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, he was appointed to the faculty of the Yale School of Medicine. As a junior faculty member in New Haven, Geoff rose to become the director of clinical reasoning for the School of Medicine, the course director for two longitudinal medical school courses, co-founder of the Yale ‘Distinctions’ program in Medical Education, the associate director of education for the Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and an associate director in the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
The Department of Medicine recruited Connors to Colorado in 2017 as the director the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Since then, he and his incredible team have transformed the spirit, content, and caliper of our residency program.
"By any measure, we are a more competitive program, recruiting top tier medical students from across the country, and placing these residents in the fellowships or practice settings of their choice," said David A. Schwartz, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine. "Geoff will bring that same transformational energy to the role of vice chair of Education."
