Co-director, Gates Summer Internship Program

Dr. Brzezinski joined the Department of Ophthalmology in 2012 and is currently an associate professor. His lab studies how gene regulatory pathways control eye development. In particular, the Brzezinski lab is investigating how the cone photoreceptors of the retina are formed and whether these cells can be used therapeutically to reverse blindness. Dr. Brzezinski is highly involved in training scientists and has been mentoring Gates summer interns since 2016. In 2020, he became a co-director of the Gates Summer Internship Program.
