Dr. Linda Montgomery

Linda Montgomery, MD

Medical Areas of Interest: Dr. Montgomery enjoys caring for patients of all ages and has special interests in women’s health and chronic disease management. She also has strong involvement in residency curricular innovation and evidence-based medicine.

Awards, Recognitions & Appointments: Dr. Montgomery is board certified in Family Medicine. She came to AFW in late 2006 from the University of Florida where she completed her residency, served as chief resident, and stayed on as faculty. She has won multiple program and departmental teaching awards. She was recently selected President of the Family Practice Inquiry Network.

Personal Interests: When not in clinic, she can often be seen running or hiking with her husband, three children, and a mutt.

Kathryn Boyd-Trull

Amelia Challender

Amelia Challender, MA

Associate Program Director of Education, University of Colorado Family Medicine Residency

Education: Warren Wilson College, BA; University of Colorado Denver, MA

Medical Areas of Interest: As Associate Program Director of Education, Amelia collaborates with other faculty members to oversee and coordinate curriculum development, evaluation, and faculty development. She has experience in these areas from her master’s in Educational Psychology and previous positions in CU Denver’s School of Education and the Colorado Association of Family Medicine Residencies. Amelia is excited to have a part in training the next generation of family physicians and leaders in family medicine.

Dr. Corey Lyon

Corey Lyon, DO

Education: Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences

Medical Areas of Interest: Women’s health, to include women’s health procedures and OB care. Also enjoys chronic disease management and practicing evidence based preventive care. Enjoys taking an active role in clinic leadership and practice transformation to build the strongest clinical training site for residents. Also loves training residents in full-scope family medicine to include procedures and evidence-based medicine.

Awards, Recognitions & Appointments: Associate Professor. Board certified in Family Medicine. Came to AFW in 2011 from Research Family Medicine Residency Program in Kansas City where he served as a faculty for four years. Awarded the Faculty of the Year Award by the residents for 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. Department of Family Medicine Clinician of the Year in 2012-2013 and Special Recognition for Leadership Award in 2014-2015. Awarded Family Medicine Teacher of the Year by the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians in 2014. Completed a Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of North Carolina in 2009. Serves as a Colorado Academy of Family Physicians Board Member and Family Physicians Inquiry Network Board President Elect. Dr. Lyon completed his residency with the Navy at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, then served three years in the Navy at Naval Air Station Sigonella in Italy. While in residency, served as Chief Resident and awarded the STFM Residency Teaching Award.

Personal Interests: When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. As a dad of three girls, activities include dance, and car pools. When not hanging out with his daughters, he enjoys golf, going to Colorado State University football games and trying not to be in last place in the residency fantasy football league.
