Cardiac Arrest & Resuscitation Research

Welcome to the Cardiac Arrest and Resuscitation Research page at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Our research team is focused on investigating ways to improve overall survival and neurologic recovery after cardiac arrest. We are currently engaged in local and national studies to address multiple topics in cardiac arrest outcomes research that will help to save lives.

The specific areas of interest that are currently being addressed by our research team include, but are not limited to:

  • Sex differences in cardiac arrest outcomes
  • Neuro-prognostication for comatose survivors of cardiac arrest
  • Decision-making in cardiac arrest care
  • Optimizing the delivery of post-cardiac arrest care including Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)

To accomplish our research goals, our team consists of physician scientists, clinical experts in post-cardiac arrest care and intensive care medicine, trainees at the pre- and post-doctoral level, and highly-skilled professional research assistants with advanced methodological experience.

Our interests span from pre-hospital and community engagement in cardiopulmonary resuscitation to emergency department management and critical care treatment of the post-cardiac arrest patient. CU is a member of the Strategies to Innovate Emergency Care Clinical Trials Network (SIREN) and our group is also actively engaged in other multi-center collaborations focused upon improving cardiac arrest care. We are actively engaged in continuing medical education training courses and community engagement to advance CPR training.

Thank you for visiting our research team information page.
