Gazette - Physicians and law enforcement tell of a massive infusion into Colorado and the rest of the United States of the deadly synthetic opioid fentanyl. They say China is flooding the market and using Mexican drug cartels to smuggle fentanyl into the United States. The drug is easy to produce, cheap, and deadly in doses measured in micrograms.

The Gazette’s editorial board met last week to discuss the crisis with Dr. Vikhyat “Vik” Bebarta, M.D. — an emergency physician, medical toxicologist, award-winning military physician and professor of pharmacology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
