Recent work by Dr. Ginde and colleagues from the CDC's IVY Network demonstrates the sustained effectiveness of mRNA vaccines against severe outcomes from COVID-19, including hospitalization.

The case-control study of more than 3,000 participants demonstrated approximately 85% vaccine efficacy both immediately after full vaccination, and as far as 24 weeks (approximately 6 months) from vaccination.

The data, which includes some time in which the Delta variant was dominant, were featured in a White House press conference with Surgeon General Murthy, CDC Director Walensky, and White House Health Advisor Fauci.
