Events

CU Diabetes Research Center (DRC) is dedicated to providing a dynamic platform for its members and diabetes researchers to learn about and exchange the latest developments in diabetes research. Through a variety of engaging events and initiatives with noted clinical, translational, and basic researchers from across campus and around the country, the DRC fosters collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing among researchers, clinicians, and students.

The following are major and regular CU DRC events:

  • CU DRC Speaker Series
  • CU DRC Research In Progress (RIP) Series
  • Annual Diabetes Day

Precision in Autoimmunity: Tracking Antigen-Reactive B Cells in Type 1 Diabetes

B cells play a significant role in the pathogenesis of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), with evidence suggesting they may have a greater impact in patients diagnosed at a young age. To explore this, Jessica Prendergast plans to utilize single-cell sequencing to analyze transcriptional profiles, antigen affinity, reactivity, and repertoire differences across B cell subsets in young-onset versus adult-onset T1D.

This work aims to enhance our current limited understanding of the role of B cells in the two endotypes of T1D and the role of B cell polyreactivity in driving disease. These findings could be translated to age-appropriate therapeutic treatments.
