Events

CU Diabetes Research Center (DRC) is dedicated to providing a dynamic platform for its members and diabetes researchers to learn about and exchange the latest developments in diabetes research. Through a variety of engaging events and initiatives with noted clinical, translational, and basic researchers from across campus and around the country, the DRC fosters collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing among researchers, clinicians, and students.

The following are major and regular CU DRC events:

  • CU DRC Speaker Series
  • CU DRC Research In Progress (RIP) Series
  • Annual Diabetes Day

Is Cathepsin D critical in the pathogenesis of T1D?

| 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM

Is Cathepsin D critical in the pathogenesis of Type 1 Diabetes?

Hybrid insulin peptides (HIPs) form in pancreatic beta cells and are targeted by autoreactive T cells in Type 1 Diabetes. The Delong group identified cathepsin D (CatD) as a key enzyme responsible for the formation of a group of HIPs contributing to disease progression. His group investigates the role of these HIPs in mediating disease progression and whether CatD-mediated HIP formation is a potential target to block the autoimmune destruction of beta cells. Join us to learn more about Professor Delong's research findings on this critical aspect of Type 1 Diabetes pathogenesis.

When: March 10, 2025, 12 pm to 1 pm
Where: Barbara Davis Center (M20), Level 2, Main Conference Room 2104

Speaker:
Thomas Delong
Associate Professor
Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
