Events

CU Diabetes Research Center (DRC) is dedicated to providing a dynamic platform for its members and diabetes researchers to learn about and exchange the latest developments in diabetes research. Through a variety of engaging events and initiatives with noted clinical, translational, and basic researchers from across campus and around the country, the DRC fosters collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing among researchers, clinicians, and students.

The following are major and regular CU DRC events:

  • CU DRC Speaker Series
  • CU DRC Research In Progress (RIP) Series
  • Annual Diabetes Day

Characterization of Human Myeloid Cells in The Pancreatic Islets During the Progression of Type 1 Diabetes

This presentation will delve into the complex role of islet myeloid cells in the progression of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in humans. While mouse model studies have revealed the dual nature of these cells in T1D development, their specific functions in human T1D remain largely unexplored. This research aims to shed light on how human islet myeloid cells influence T cell responses and impact T1D progression.

The presentation will cover two key areas:
+ Functional signatures of human islet myeloid cell subsets

+ Potential role of Mertk, an efferocytosis receptor, in modulating T1D progression

When: March 3, 12 pm to 1 pm
Where:
Barbara Davis Center (M20), Level 2, Main Conference Room 2104

Speaker:
Autumn Doan, Postdoctoral Fellow, Rachel Friedman Lab, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes
