Dean's Weekly Message

July 15, 2019

Dear Colleague:

The 13th annual Faculty Professionalism Award will be awarded this year to two recipients: Richard Schulick, MD, MBA, professor and chair of surgery, and director of the University of Colorado Cancer Center; and Rita Lee, MD, associate professor of medicine. Rich is being recognized for his leadership in professionalism. “He is a model of professionalism in his own actions and words, and he inspires other to raise their own standards to meet his high expectations for his colleagues,” wrote one of his nominators.  Rita is being honored as a respected and dedicated clinician and educator. “Dr. Lee’s professionalism is manifested in her courage and her commitment,” wrote one of her nominators. “Her dedication to the dignity and autonomy of each individual guides her every move.” The award will be presented to Rich and Rita at the School of Medicine Matriculation Ceremony on Friday, August 9. Congratulations to Rich and Rita and all nominees for this important award.

The UCHealth Steadman Hawkins Clinic Denver | CU Sports Medicine center opened in June at 175 Inverness Drive West in Englewood. The state-of-the art orthopedic and sports performance facility will offer advanced care to elite and amateur athletes, and any patient recovering from an injury. Clinic services include physical therapy and rehabilitation, imaging services, sports performance recovery, training and technology, and a surgery center. The surgeons and therapists are part of the School of Medicine Orthopedic Sports Medicine faculty, the most comprehensive sports medicine group in the western United States.

For members of the campus community who use the InfoEd system, there are updates coming that will change how the system works and may change the way you search the Conflict of Interest, Human Subjects, Proposal Development, and Proposal Tracking modules. The changes are scheduled to take effect Monday, November 25. The University Regulatory Compliance Office, Office of Grants and Contracts and Office of Information Technology are leading the effort. Town halls, newsletter articles, and training will be available. For questions, email erasupport@ucdenver.edu, or see the PDF for more details.

Have a good week,
