For two decades, this annual symposium has brought together health care providers – physicians, nurses, medical students, specialists and more – to enhance their understanding of women’s health and sex and gender differences and strengthen the care they provide.

Target audience:  Healthcare providers - physicians, nurses, medical students, specialists and those interested in enhancing their understanding of women's health and sex/gender differences. 

Program Overview: This program is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical students, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, diabetes educators, and many others involved in women’s health.

Course objectives:  

At the end of this activity, learners will be able to:

  •  Identify strategies to facilitate optimal comprehensive care for patients with type 2 diabetes, including cardiovascular risk factor management and incorporation of newer cardiometabolic agents. 
  • Understand basic underlying biology, epidemiology and current treatments for acute stroke and how these differ between men and women.
  • Better work with caregivers and treat children and adolescents who struggle with childhood obesity.
  • Understand how SODH affect the assessment and mitigation of cardiometabolic risk factors.
  • Treat menopausal symptoms using a thorough assessment of length/severity of side effects, patient risk factors and family health history.
  • Monitor and potentially treat cardiometabolic consequences of breast cancer.
