Background

Paul Rozance, MD, received his MD from Georgetown and currently sees patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Childrens Hospital Colorado, UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, UCHealth Highlands Ranch and UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital. He is driven by a passion for ensuring that every baby has a healthy, positive experience and for women to experience their pregnancy free of complications.

Research + Funding

In 2010, Dr. Rozance received funding from the Ludeman Center for his project titled, “Nutrient Coordination of Pancreatic Vasculature and Beta-Cells in Intrauterine Growth Restriction.” The goal of his study was to test the hypothesis that nutrients, oxygen and insulin regulate pancreatic islet vascularity and beta-cell mass in a coordinated fashion and that this regulation is abnormal in intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) fetuses. He recognizes the Ludeman Center for providing funding for a broad range of work important in the field of women’s health research and how this funding is so effective at furthering the success of the early-career researchers.

Transforming Women’s Health

Dr. Rozance’s work is dedicated to improving women’s reproductive health and pregnancy outcomes, for which he was recently recognized. Awarded with a five-year National Institute of Health R01 entitled, “Fetal Glucagon Links Fetal Metabolism with Uterine Blood Flow and Placental Nutrient Transfer by Inhibiting Placental Lactogen Secretion,” the study is dedicated to determining the novel roles by which fetal glucagon and maternal placental lactogen regulate placental function and fetal growth.
