Research Description

Dr. Chatfield’s research focuses on apoptosis and signal transduction. She founded the Cardiac Genetics Clinic at the University of Colorado where she cares for children with known and suspected heritable syndromes with known cardiovascular manifestations.

As a Ludeman Family Center for Women's Health Research seed grantee, Dr. Chatfield focused on understanding heart failure secondary to genetic and idiopathic forms of dilated cardiomyopathy in young female versus male children. She studied the differences in patterns of mitochondrial energy metabolism in female versus male children with heat failure secondary to idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy.
