Proliferating cancer cells have been shown to display different metabolic properties compared to normal proliferating cells. The importance of metabolic reprogramming in tumor cells, as well as the unique metabolic dependencies of tumor cells, has led to the targeting of metabolic enzymes as a selective anticancer strategy. My research focuses on identifying metabolic vulnerabilities in non-small cell lung cancers to develop effective combination therapies. Through the use of a metabolic shRNA synthetic lethal screen, I can identify key metabolic regulatory pathways which can serve as potential therapeutic targets with EGFR inhibitors to completely eliminate NSCLC burden.
