Research & Innovation

The Research Division of the Department of Anesthesiology conducts a broad range of clinical and basic science research. The mission of our research is to understand the mechanisms of neurological and he​art disease, pain and anesthetic toxicity.

Research in the Department is primarily funded through extramural grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD) and various non-profit foundations.

We have a mix of basic scientists and clinical anesthesiologists working together to address important clinical/translational research questions. Department investigators have a strong record of collaboration amongst investigators within the Department, other departments at the University of Colorado and other institutions.​
