Didactic Curriculum
The Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship has a comprehensive educational curriculum including:
- Twice weekly morning conferences covering core pediatric anesthesia topics
- Weekly fellows conference covering advanced topics, including case discussions, journal clubs, professionalism workshops, practice management and quality improvement lectures.
- Weekly departmental grand rounds
- Monthly departmental morbidity and mortality conference
- Mock oral board exam preparation
- Access to online didactic curricula
- Multidisciplinary simulation exposure
Scholarly Activity
Each fellow gets approximately 30
days of protected academic time over the course of the year to pursue scholarly
and research activities. Our fellows complete a variety of scholarly activities,
including:
- Two
required presentations (lectures or problem-based learning discussions)
- Required participation in a Quality Improvement project under the mentorship of a faculty member
- The opportunity to present invited lectures to other institutions through the Visiting Scholars in Pediatric Anesthesia Program (ViSiPAP). Learn more about ViSiPAP
- Submission
of projects for peer-reviewed publication
- Submission of posters or abstracts to the annual meetings of the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia/American Academy of Pediatrics (SPA/AAP) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and attendance at these meetings
