Palliative Care and Aging Research Fellow
Zachary Macchi, MD, is an Aging and Palliative Care Research Fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado. He obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Kansas and completed his residency in Neurology at the University of Colorado (CU) Anschutz. An area of ongoing interest to Dr. Macchi is palliative care for neurologic illness, or neuropalliative care. Throughout fellowship he continues to work on a number of projects related to neuropalliative care for patients with neurodegenerative conditions, like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. He is interested in developing strategies for improving the quality of life of patients with cognitive impairment. He is currently researching ways to improve advance care planning conversations between patients, caregivers, and neurologists.
